ETERNAL SAYINGS

The one that leads the human from the demoniacal nature to humanity and from humanity to divinity is the forgiveness.

Forgiveness is the divine quality. Desire, wrath, covetousness, infatuation, pride, envy, enmity, aversion, revenge and the like are the demoniac qualities. Love, compassion, delight, forgiveness, peace, endurance and the like are the divine qualities. Forgiveness is one of the divine qualities. The one, who is a practiser should renounce the demoniac qualities and should habituate the divine qualities. The people, who possess the mind of forgiveness, are most beloved to the God. They deserve for the benignity of the God. The mind of those, who can forgive others, is the abode of the God. The text is that in the mind of such people, God establishes He Himself. That itself is the salvation. isn’t it? That is to say, the one, who possess the mind of forgiveness are the eminent aspirants of yoga of devotion. Through the forgiveness, the result of the practice of the yoga of devotion is being obtained.

2. The practiser should be endowed with the four means of attainment. The term ‘Four means of attainment’ refers the 1. Discrimination between the real and unreal, 2. Dispassion towards the pleasures of both the worlds, 3. The six attributes beginning with tranquility and 4. Longing for liberty. Among those four, the six attributes means the six practices such as Sama, Dama, Uparati, Titiksha, Sraddha, and Samadhana. Among those six practices, let us verify the ‘Titiksha’ once.

Endurance towards the couple of opposites, which occurs in the universe such as cold and heat and the like, not having the thought of revenge towards the grief arisen by others, even being vigorous both physically and mentally, not having annoying of the mind and not using harsh wordings under any circumstances, are said as ‘Titiksha’.

Such ‘Titiksha’ is possible only through the forgiveness. To be endowed with the endurance towards the couple of opposites like honour and disgrace etc, only when we can forgive them, who disgrace us, the endurance can sustain. In order to renounce the usage of harsh wordings and revenge to any amount of hardships and harms happened by others, only when we can forgive them such tranquility and endurance can be possible. Thereby, only when the forgiving is accustomed, ‘Titiksha’ is possible. Thereby, through the forgiveness, the practice happens in becoming endowed with the four means of attainment.

3. People, who possess expectation of fruit firmly, cannot forgive others, when the objects to be obtained by them, become others’ own. Only when they abandon the expectation of fruit, they can forgive others, for the harms happened by them. Hence, through the forgiveness the expectation of fruit will emaciate.

The demoniac qualities like wrath, pride, envy, enmity, aversion, revenge and so on will associate with the thoughts due to the expectation of fruit only. Having renounced the motive, if the one can forgive others, who cause to loss, there can be no more evil dispositions to associate with the thoughts. Therefore, through the forgiveness the attachment will be abandoned.

The text is that in the mind of an individual, who possess forgiveness, the six evil passions are diminishing along with the expectation of fruit and attachment. Viz. the Satta causing bondage (viz. the expectation of fruit, attachment and the six evil passions and so forth), which is the influence of the Rajas and which constitutes the bondage of action, is annihilating. The mind predominant of Sattva can establish. That is to say, through the forgiveness, having established the purity of mind, the worthiness for the knowledge is obtaining. The happening of purity of mind is the result of yoga of action. Thereby, through the forgiveness the practice of yoga of action is happening.

4. The forgiveness is the observance of the yoga of knowledge. When the loss occurs, even from any number of people, even in any number of times or even at any range, only the one can forgive, who is endowed with the Self knowledge, who possesses disregard of worldly objects and affluences, considering them as the transitory ones, who is desirous of devotion as well as of salvation and who possesses the knowledge of viewing the God in all the beings. The text is that the one, who can forgive others, is becoming the one, who practices the yoga of knowledge.

5. Forgiveness is an expiatory action. The Manu Smriti states that by possessing the nature of forgiveness always, the preserved sins, (sins of the past births) and the capital sins will also annihilate. The Smriti of Yajnavalkya states that the learned men (the individuals, who learnt Sastras) will be purified through forgiveness. (The annihilating of the sin itself is purifying.)

Around the one, who possesses demoniac qualities, the people, who possess demoniac qualities, only will get together. Around the one, who possesses divine qualities, the people, who possess divine qualities, only will get together. We experience this in the world. So also, by practicing a single good disposition, all the remaining good dispositions will obtain on their own accord.

Through the forgiveness, all the evil dispositions such as expectation of fruit, attachment, wrath, covetousness, pride, envy, enmity, revenge, dejection of mind, grief, self praising, blaming of others, ostentation and so forth will be abandoned gradually. The reason is there is no room for them in the Antahkarana of forgiveness. Through the forgiveness, a mind of equanimity towards all the beings will emanate. They can view the God in all the beings. Through the forgiveness, dispassion will arise towards the material pleasures. The contentment will take place. The austerities of body, speech and mind will accomplish. By the quality of forgiveness uprightness will occur. Through the quality of forgiveness, tranquility, renunciation, love, compassion, forbearance, friendship, a steadfast mind, which does not stir on the pairs of opposite qualities and the purity of mind will obtain.

By the quality of forgiveness, the impressions will decline.

We have discussed the spiritual benefits that arise by the forgiveness so far. Now let us discuss the material benefits that arise by the forgiveness.

Beginning from the family disputes unto the world wars if we observe from the ages, the root cause of all those quarrels is only to be unable to forgive others. If we forgive others, they will forgive us. If we love others, they will love us. Next, if we render cooperation to others, they will also render cooperation to us. In between either two individuals, two families, two villages, two districts or two countries, having extinguished the wrath, enmity, aversion, revenge; and if the forgiveness, endurance, tranquility and love are established, what is needed for the universal peace, more than this. It is the earthly heaven. It is the dominion of Lord Rama. If the ‘Forgiveness’ rules the dominion it is the age of Krita. If the ‘revenge’ rules the dominion, it is the age of Kali.

To the one, who possesses the mind of forgiveness, there do not remain enemies on this earth. Such a one is the destitute of enemies.

Now you may be feeling to practice ‘forgiveness’. Aren’t you? Whom will you forgive? If you say to all who ever appeared ‘I will forgive you’, they will contradict that why should you forgive them and what wrong is with them. The forgiving mind may arise in you. But, the people to be forgiven should come across. You should wait for the opportunity. The individuals who produce loss and trouble to us, who torture us, who disgrace us, who deceive us and who create obstacles should come across. Then only you will get opportunity to forgive them.

Is it enough, if only one individual draws near?
Through out the life, so many people should draw near.

Is it enough, if they faced once?
Through out the life, so many times they should face.

Is it enough, if the people, who create a little loss, a little trouble or who did a little deceit, draw near?
The people who annoy you in several stages beginning with one percent unto cent percent, in several ways, from several angles should face.

Then only it becomes possible to you to practice the ‘forgiveness’. Don’t neglect, when the chance arises. I wish that this composition might be called back to your mind in time.
O practisers! Have you ever observed this topic? You will be always forgiving yourself. You will never get angry with yourself, even though you commit any number of errors and how dreadful crimes. You will never punish yourself. Viz. you are the people, who possess the eminent quality of forgiveness.

At the same time, you can never forgive others under any circumstances and in any type of matter.
O practiser! You should not forgive yourself under any circumstances. Under any circumstances, you ought to forgive others. Then only you can become an eminent aspirant.

O practisers! All of you make a vow of ‘Forgiving’. You make a principle to forgive some people daily. You try to make others also to practice ‘Forgiving’ like you. Establish ‘Forgiveness’ in the world.

Just as the fragrance extends into the entire air, this good disposition (forgiveness) may extend all over the world.

‘Forgive and see’

When you take refuge of any one of the divine dispositions, all the remaining divine dispositions will seek your patronage.
